You Never Forget your First 🥇
What does your first car mean? Freedom, adventure, a world of possibilities and to me an entrance into a world of Car culture that I'd give anything for. Anyone who knows me knows that my first car was something that I was after ever since it was revised in 2001. Watching the advert on TV gave me tingles every time. I should see it pulling through the mountains with its 6 forward gears, red clocks, and the sound of the now legendary Blacktop 4A-GE pulling till 8200rpm. Yes car guys will know what I'm talking about. The Toyota Corolla RXi 20 valve and to be more specific the "Airbag Spec".
This car used to shoot blue flames with just an exhaust system. The engine was stock nothing else fitted. There are a few videos on YouTube I uploaded back in the day that garnered a shocking 80000 views. My car was known throughout Durban as the iconic "Silver 20". It's been featured on KZN Car Fanatics, and been on Autostyles Digital Display in their store between 2014-2016.
It gave me laughs 🤣 when I diced Rocky R's E92 M3 V8. He put his hazards in respect for this baby 4 cylinder beast. For those of you who don't know Rocky R had the loudest M3 probably in the whole country. My car was not a soft car it was proper loud but behind Rocky R's M3 I couldn't hear my own car with open throttles at 7000rpm. It gave me sorrows at ToyoFest 2015 on the way home when the distributor cap melted and nobody had stock for two weeks 😔. This car shaped me into who I am today. Every time I see one I think to myself I have done the biggest mistake letting her go. Like it or not we share emotional bonds with these inanimate objects we call vehicles. It's not just metal or going from point A to point B. If you still have your first keep it as long as you can for it will bring you a lifetime of joy happiness and sorrows.
