A LHD 350 SLC
PERKS OF THE JOB
Today I was fortunate enough to get up close and personal with this legend from 1973. She's a Mercedes Benz 350 SLC (left hand drive) little is known about the history of this car and how it's a LHD in this case as there's no documented history unfortunately.
Let's get to the good bits it has a smooth 3.5 litre V8 motor, fuel injection, power steering and a 4 speed manual yes MANUAL gearbox. I've never had driven a big Merc in manual before and this was my first LHD driving experience.
Other than reaching for the door pad to change gear as muscle memory would dictate. The drive was rather pleasant for a vehicle that's now getting on for 50 years old. Power delivery was crisp, steering direct with no vagueness at all even tho she's not in the best of shape. Ive driven countless vehicles and this 50 year old Benz doesn't feel the age at all the steering and clutch is light as if it would be in a 90s hydraulic assisted vehicle. The old school engineering was a real class act.
Due to age she's in need of major attention on the body and undercarriage. But she's got the potential to be a fantastic Sunday cruiser.
